Blow Your Horn
2008 July 18
Here’s an unashamed plug for a blog I set up to allow my good mate and harmonica wizard Wanderin’ Wilf to do his thing – the Harp Surgery. If you have any kind of hankerin’ to play the harp and play it well, former UK champion Wilf’s your man. Hints and tips, classic harmonica video, even lessons from the man himself, should you wish.
For example, how did the wonderful William Clarke (below) do what he did? Wilf’ll tell ya. Check out his blog.

Nice work Captain.
I’m just off to dig out that old C Marine Band that’s in a drawer somewhere :)
I was fortunate to see William Clarke play live. I was blues editor for a monthly publication here in Chicago at the time and was a guest of Alligator Records for Clarke’s “Groove Time” CD release party.
Three words: Hellacious Harp Honker. That’s really the only way to describe his playing. If anyone’s interested, I posted a writeup of “Groove Time” and my experiences seeing him play live at:

Thanks SO much for posting the video of Mistah Clarke. Brought tears to my eyes, seeing/hearing him play one more time, for sure.

Glad you liked it. There’s plenty more from that appearance if you search around on YouTube. Don’t forget to rock up to the aforementioned Harp Surgery blog now and again for more good harp-related stuff.
