Dum Dum Girls – I Was Most Impressed

2011 March 30
by The Captain

Treat your ears to the terrific new EP from California quartet Dum Dum Girls, previously described as the love children of The Bangles and The Cure. It’s so much more lovely than It Will Be (their full length release from a year ago) and I can’t wait for more. Three sparkling originals, including title track He Gets Me High, plus a moody cover of The Smiths’ There Is a Light That Never Goes Out.

Scuzzy noise pop channeling 60s girl groups, replete with a slice of The Jesus and Mary Chain’s sonic splendour, and one of those voices.. front woman Dee Dee righteously shivers my timbers in a sulky, sultry kind of way. So give it a listen, for free.
